Environmental Author Emma Loewe Guest Lecture

Join the Regenerative Agriculture Alliance (RAA) and Clean River Partners as we welcome Emma Loewe, author of the new book Return to Nature, to discuss her conservation ethic and living healthier lives by deepening our connections with the natural world. Emma Loewe is a writer who explores the intersection of human and environmental health through her diverse work. She will also moderate a panel on regenerative agriculture’s role in reconnecting society to the environment and a more sustainable food system. Don’t miss this chance to gain new perspectives on the environment, our food system, and how to more meaningfully connect with landscapes of all kinds. All are welcome!

Sustainable Northfield Podcast

A new podcast, created and hosted by Beth Kallestad and Izzy Quattrucci, entitled “Sustainable Northfield” is now online on your favorite podcast-listening app! The monthly episodes cover a variety of topics around sustainability and stories of the actions being taken in Northfield, Minnesota. The Honorable Harvest: Indigenous Knowledge for Sustainability

Tune in to the 2020-21 Frank G. and Jean M. Chesley Lecture in Environmental Studies at Carleton College! The talk will be held over zoom on Friday, October 9th 3:30-4:30 pm.

Robin Wall Kimmerer is a mother, scientist, decorated professor, and enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. She is the author of Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teaching of Plants, which has earned Kimmerer wide acclaim. Her first book, Gathering Moss: A Natural and Cultural History of Mosses, was awarded the John Burroughs Medal for outstanding nature writing, and her other work has appeared in Orion, Whole Terrain, and numerous scientific journals. She tours widely and has been featured on NPR’s On Being with Krista Tippett and in 2015 addressed the general assembly of the United Nations on the topic of “Healing Our Relationship with Nature.” Kimmerer lives in Syracuse, New York, where she is a SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor of Environmental Biology, and the founder and director of the Center for Native Peoples and the Environment.
